When you’re first diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes, healthy eating and regular physical activity are usually prescribed. If this doesn’t work well enough, tablets may be given – not as a substitute, however, because healthy eating and regular physical activity are needed as well.

If you have type 1 diabetes then yes, you will have to at least control and balance your food intake with your insulin intake. But because new insulin medications are available, this means that you can eat almost anything you would like so long as you take your “short acting” insulin either immediately before, during, or after your meals.

Your doctor will decide which tablets are best for you. It’s then up to you to test your blood glucose levels often and record the results in a diary so that you and your doctor can see if the tablets are helping and whether your dose needs adjusting.

There are two kinds of blood tests that can be used to examine an individual’s blood glucose levels. They are called “teat strips” that permit blood to respond with a sure enzyme on the strip. On one of the strips, the blood and the enzyme will produce a tone. There is a m that will so learn the sum of the tone which results in the glucose interpretation. The second character of strip results in the output of electrons when a blood sampling is mixed with it. A meter will so learn the amounts of the electrons and exhibit the glucose interpretation.

Testing your blood glucose levels is something that you may do more often than needed. There is never a bad time to test as it helps keep you more in control. For example, if you would like to have a bite to eat that is not exactly within your diet guidelines, then you may run a test to see what the effect that food has on your glucose levels. Another example is if you are getting ready to exercise and by taking a test beforehand, it will let you know if you need something to eat.

Are you a diabetic and have no health insurance? I pity you since the average person with diabetes spends somewhere in the neighborhood of $13,000 a year on health costs. Compare this with the $2,500 a person without the disease spends and you can see why we are between a rock and a hard place with out health insurance. Obviously finding low cost diabetic supplies is mandatory for us.

I was personally turned down for health insurance coverage because I was considered “pre-diabetic” because it runs in my family. Every once in a while I will check my blood sugar with my wife’s glucose monitor and I have always been in a good range. I wonder how many others are stuck with no insurance or inadequate insurance to cover the high cost of their diabetes supplies.

I mentioned that I used my wife’s monitor, she does have diabetes and needs to check her glucose levels daily and as you may well know sometimes three or four times a day. The Glucose monitors last for a long time but finding low cost test strips can be a choir especially when you go through better than 50 a month. We have found that it is best to stay stocked up on them so that we do not have to run out to the pharmacy to grab a high cost bottle of test strips.

We have found some great low cost diabetic supplies including low cost test strips online. Test strips like Freestyle, Bayer Contour and One Touch can be found for over half price. In fact at one place we were able to save, even with shipping, better than 50 percent on strips that were unopened and did not expire until a year into the future. And I can guarantee that they will be used up way before then.

Yes and no!
Many people have extra diabetic test strips for a number of reasons. Maybe you switched meters, cut down on the number of times you test a day or maybe you are no longer considered a diabetic. Unfortunately you may have lost a loved one who was a diabetic.
So what can you do with all the extra boxes you have now? Well you can throw them out or a better idea is to sell them for cash!
Maybe you are wondering if selling them is even legal. Yes diabetic strips are a Non-prescription product. The can be purchased over the counter in many pharmacy stores, Wal-Mart, Wallgreens etc.
The only test strips that can’t be sold are the ones that have been supplied by Medicaid or Medicare. These are government run programs that prohibit the re-selling of test strips.
But I have a prescription for my strips from my health insurance company. Is it ok to sell these? Yes, you can sell these as long as there is no labeling that mentions Medicaid or Medicare.
So now that you have all the information on selling your diabetic test strips you may be wondering where you can sell them at.
One good place is right here on the internet.
