Before going to the topic on how to cure diabetes, let us first establish the fact that diabetes is an incurable disease and still needs a well developed cure to render a diabetic totally free of all symptoms and complications.

What are commonly misconstrued, as diabetes cures are the treatments necessary to manage and control the diabetes symptoms to prevent the disease from developing further complications. In fact, diabetes is known to be a highly progressive disease, which means the patient’s condition can deteriorate or develop into something more critical.

Hence, once a person is afflicted with diabetes, he is bound to carry this disease for the rest of his life. Treatments will be focused on how to lower the level of blood sugar level to normal whether the diabetes sufferer is a type 1, type 2 or gestational diabetic.

If a patient has type 1 diabetes, his or her pancreas produces very little insulin or no insulin at all. A daily insulin injection is needed in order to control the blood sugar level to prevent the patient from weakening or worst, dying. Sad to say, but this is now quite common among children.

A type 2 diabetes occurs when the pancreas does not produce enough insulin or there is resistance to insulin. This is a developing disease, which starts with oral medication and if not properly treated, will eventually require insulin injection. This often affects older and obese people due to lesser activity thereby lessening insulin sensitivity.

Gestational diabetes takes place at the later months of pregnancy and disappears upon giving birth. However, the mother is already deemed as prone to developing type 2 diabetes as she ages or on her next pregnancy.

The causes as well as the exact cures for diabetes remain to be discovered but this disease is currently treated with medicines, by exercise and through diet to avert complications. Hence, a diabetic patient in order to manage and prevent diabetic symptoms and complications from taking place, should acquire sufficient knowledge about the following:

1. The skill to check the blood sugar level at home. Checking will indicate if the medication, diet, and exercises are effective. As recommended by the American Diabetes Association, blood sugar level before a meal is from 80 to 120 mg/dl and 100 to 140 mg/dl before bedtime.

2. A dietary meal plan prepared by the dietitian in coordination with the doctor should be strictly followed. This is to make sure that the blood sugar level will not become too high or low.

3. Pay strict attention to the time and dosage of the medications prescribed by the doctor. Learn to inject insulin, if needed, and monitor the intake of oral medicines like glucose-lowering pills in a logbook. Type 2 diabetes medications include oral sulfonylureas to increase the insulin, thiazolidinediones for better cell sensitivity and acarbose and miglitol to postpone glucose absorption.

4. Along with the medications and proper diet to control diabetes, exercise is also needed in order to maintain the ideal weight and blood sugar level, as well as eliminate high blood pressure which may lead to heart attack or stroke. The exercise program should have the approval of the doctor.

5. Foot handling and hygiene becomes necessary because wounds tend to heal longer giving time for bacterial infections to set in. If left untreated, the foot might be amputated.

6. Proper coordination with the diabetes team in case an emergency is inevitable.

Diabetes is fast becoming the biggest silent killer of the world and the medical environment is scrambling for the elusive cure to fight off diabetes. Prevention is still our best armor to avoid affliction.

Based on statistics, 3 percent to 5 percent of pregnant women suffer gestational diabetes. This type of diabetes is related to the insulin resistance in type 2 diabetes as far as the need for proper diet and exercise is concerned.

Due to her pregnancy, the pregnant woman is less mindful of her dietary intakes and has more tendencies to be inactive owing to her condition. It simply means that a well-placed gestational diabetes diet plan should be on hand to prevent this disease from developing.

On 5th to 6th month of pregnancy, the placenta generates a lot of hormones which block the functions of insulin. More hormones are produced when the placenta becomes bigger resulting to more blockage and greater insulin resistance. When the insulin could no longer neutralize the placenta hormones, this gives rise to gestational diabetes.

In some cases, other causes of gestational diabetes can be related to family history of diabetes, obesity, previous delivery with birth defect, previously giving birth to a large infant, or having too much amniotic fluid (a slight yellowish fluid that covers the fetus).

Gestational diabetes disappears upon giving birth since the placenta is already removed. However, 40 percent of these women are likely to develop type 2 diabetes.

The need for a gestational diabetes plan is important because an uncontrolled blood sugar level can lead to the incidence of birth defect or miscarriage. Some may even require insulin injection but are never prescribed with oral medication to preclude any unknown side effects.

It is important that the diet plan be created with the gestational diabetic patient in mind. This should be a well-balanced diet to support the pregnancy of gestational diabetic women.

Care should be given not to include a drastic reduction of carbohydrate intakes since this will prove to be an unhealthy practice for pregnant women. In view of this, hereunder are the do’s and dont’s to be observed in formulating a gestational diabetes diet plan:

Proper Gestational Diabetes Foods

1. Small breakfast that includes protein foods like eggs, skinned chicken, brown bread with peanut butter or lentil broth.

2. Small meals after 3 to 4 hours comprising of high protein products, e.g. skinned fish, low fat meat, eggs, nuts, cottage cheese, peanut butter etc.

3. Fruits, green and leafy vegetables; fruits should be eaten only during lunch or dinner but never at breakfast.

4. Milk low in fat or skim the milk before drinking.

Improper Gestational Diabetes Foods

1. Sugar, sweetener and sweets; Examples are chocolates, pies, cakes, pastries, cookies, soft drinks, marmalade, cookies, jam, fruit juice, table sugar, honey, molasses corn syrup and cornstarch.

2. Junk foods and packaged meals such as burgers, instant noodles, hot dogs, potato crisps, French fries, frozen foods, canned fish and canned soups.

3. Fatty and deep fried foods; Instead of using cooking oil, try to bake, steam, grill or boil. Grilled lean meat and fish are good but not pork.

4. Butter, cheese, mayonnaise, thick cream, sour cream and margarine.

The best gestational diabetes diet plan your dietitian can come up with is one that is done with proper consultation with your doctor. The above food groups merely serve as reference because there is no universal diet plan for gestational diabetes.

Diabetes is a disease that affects all ages, races, and cultural groups of people and left undiagnosed and untreated can lead to a wide range of life threatening complications that can include heart disease, kidney failure, nerve damage, and vision problems. Unfortunately there is no cure for diabetes, but the disease can be managed and the impetus of treatment falls on the diabetic to make the necessary lifestyle changes that include diet and exercise as well as keeping the necessary diabetic medical supplies on hand.

One of the most important parts of any diabetics testing supplies is the blood glucose monitor. Without the ability to self monitor blood glucose levels during the day it would be almost impossible to manage this disease. Most diabetics test their blood sugar levels from 3 to 7 times a day making restocking their supplies a very important part of their disease management.

Once the diabetic has obtained a glucose monitor by buying one or getting one of the many free glucose monitors offered on the internet they will need to keep a supply of test strips, lancets for finger pricks, and alcohol wipes at all times. They will also be responsible for maintaining their monitor and making sure it is kept in good operating order. Faulty or damaged equipment can give false readings which can be quite dangerous, even life threatening.

Another vital component in the diabetes treatment regimen is insulin. Without the ability to self administer insulin all type 1 diabetics would be unable to manage their disease. The initial training of giving a self injection of insulin will be done at the doctor’s office, usually under the supervision of a registered nurse. But since insulin is a lifetime need the diabetic will be responsible for making sure they have all the necessary items for this task. Depending on which type of injection method one chooses the following supplies will be needed: insulin syringes for self injections, pen and jet injectors, or an insulin pump/infuser setup that will require frequent needle changes.

Many of the companies that provide diabetic medical supplies will work as an intermediary between the insurance company and the diabetic filling out all the necessary paper work needed to keep the out of pocket expenses to a minimum and in some cases nothing. Another nice feature of using a medical supply company is the automated shipments of the needed supplies each month. Once the billing with the insurance company is set up the diabetic will receive their needed supplies delivered directly to their door every month.

For people with diabetes there is nothing more important for the management of their disease then the diabetic medical supplies they use on a daily basis. Starting from the time of diagnosis these supplies will be their lifeline to the proper management needed to combat the many complications this disease brings. With proper management and a good health care team diabetics can have a long and bright future.

Type 1 diabetes

Treatment almost always involves the daily injection of insulin, usually a combination of short-acting insulin such as regular or Lispro or Aspart insulin and a longer-acting insulin such as NPH, lente, glargine, detemir, or ultralente insulins.

* Insulin must be given as an injection. If taken by mouth, insulin would be destroyed in the stomach before it could get into the blood where it is needed.

* Most people with type 1 diabetes give these injections to themselves. Even if someone else usually gives you your injections, it is important that you know how to do it in case the other person is not available.

* A trained professional will show you how to store and inject the insulin. Usually this is a nurse who works with the health care provider or a diabetes educator.

* Insulin is usually given in 2 or 3 injections per day, generally around mealtimes. Dosage is individual and is tailored to suit the person. Longer acting insulins are typically administered 1 or 2 times per day.

* It is very important to eat if you have taken insulin, as the insulin will lower your blood sugar regardless of whether you have eaten. If you take insulin without eating, you could have hypoglycemia. This is called an insulin reaction.

* There is an adjustment period while you learn how insulin affects you and how to time your mealtimes and exercise times with your insulin injections to keep your blood sugar level as even as possible.

* Keeping accurate records of your blood sugar levels and insulin dosages is crucial in helping your health care provider take care of your diabetes.

* Eating a consistent, healthy diet appropriate for your size and weight is essential in controlling your blood sugar level.

Type 2 diabetes

Depending on how elevated your blood sugar and glycosylated hemoglobin are at the time of your diagnosis, you may be given a chance to lower your blood sugar level without medication.

* The best way to do this is to lose weight if you are obese and begin an exercise program.

* This will generally be tried for 3-6 months, and then your blood sugar and glycosylated hemoglobin will be rechecked. If they remain high, you will be started on an oral medication, usually a sulfonylurea or biguanide (Metformin), to help control your blood sugar level.

* Even if you are on medication, it is still important to eat a healthy diet, lose weight if you are overweight, and engage in moderate physical activity as often as possible.

* Your health care provider will monitor your progress on medication very carefully at first. It is important to get just the right dose of the right medication to get your blood sugar level in the recommended range with the fewest side effects.

* Your doctor may decide to combine two types of medications to get your blood sugar level under control.

* Gradually, even people with type 2 diabetes may require insulin injections to control their blood sugar levels.

* It is becoming more common for people with type 2 diabetes to take a combination of oral medication and insulin injections to control blood sugar levels.

Diabetic people are all around, do you know or have a relative or parent suffering from diabetes? then this article is intended to analyze some diagnostic studies recently released and some advise on medical treatments, hopefully those suffering from diabetes, maybe you included will get a better understanding of the points listed above.

If you are a person dealing with diabetes, then you know that testing your blood glucose levels is very important, while some diabetics need to test them 3 times per day, another ones need to test their blood glucose levels even up to 10 times per day. While, high blood sugar levels does not mean necessarily that a person suffer from diabetes, researches has pointed out that there is a close relation, meaning that it is certainly a call for further testing.

There is no reason for diabetics avoid controlling their glucose levels, even if you do not have any kind of social security you can get a free glucose meter, by using internet you can research and get the glucometer that best suit your needs.

Firstly, diagnostic studies are all about testing the levels of glucose in your blood, for instance, if two different blood glucose tests show glucose levels over 140 mg/dI – both tests done after eight hours of fasting – then, additional tests are required, one after drinking sugar water, other after fasting. However, if after these 2 new tests you get similar results, then a diabetes diagnosis is established.

Secondly, if you are a diabetic you should know that there is no cure for diabetes type 1 neither type 2. Consequently, there is no medical treatment in order to cure diabetes, but there are medical procedures in order to control high blood sugar levels and get them lowered.

While people that suffer diabetes type I can control it by regular insulin injections and a special diet and exercise regimen, those suffering type II diabetes could control their glucose levels with just diet and exercise.

Last but not least, there are several alternative medicine treatments that might deserve diabetic people giving one of them a try. For instance, yoga, reiki and special massages.

To sum up, the main point for diabetics is how to lower high blood sugar levels, some patients might need the use of drugs in order to increase insulin production, some drugs could be chlorpropamide, glipizide, glyburide, tolbutamide, and tolazamide. Ask your doctor for specialized advise.

When it comes for caring a disease like diabetes and maintaining healthy blood sugar levels, diabetic medical supplies play an important role. Remember that you require to carefully maintain glucose and insulin levels including a healthy blood pressure. In order to do your job in a proper manner, you require to have a complete set of diabetic medical supplies handy.

Here is a basic checklist of diabetic medical supplies in order to make sure that your glucose and insulin levels are healthy:

a)	Insulin

This is an extreme necessity for people with type1 diabetes. One requires regular in fact daily insulin slots in order to function in a normal way. People with Type 2 diabetes will also require insulin slots in order to manage healthy glucose levels at some point in their life.

You would find more than about twenty types of products related to insulin widely sold on the market these days. However, you should consult your doctor prior to making any decision on purchasing insulin product.

b)	Insulin syringes

These are specifically designed needles for insulin use. These hypodermic needles are available on various sizes and the thickness usually depends on the requirement of the user.

It is extremely important to go for the correct needle choice as a wrong choice may lead to painful injections as well as medical complications. Consider purchasing these needles only from a reputed brand to enjoy durability and ensure safety.

c)	Insulin test strips

These strips need to be used with diabetic testing meters. Make sure that the two get along with each other very well.

d)	Insulin pumps

These pumps are required to be connected to your body via inserting a flexible tube to your abdomen skin. The tube is actually attached to a catheter from which insulin would be dispensed. Proper placement and positioning of this pump is necessary to facilitate insulin flow control in to the body in order to maintain ideal insulin levels.

These pumps require to be programmed in order to benefit you with adequate dosage. Most doctors do not recommend its use when it comes to getting involved in physically strenuous activities.

e)	Diabetic testing meter

This is an essential supply when it comes to monitor glucose and blood sugar levels efficiently. It would be a great idea to go for portable kits in order to keep tabs on your glucose levels even while you are traveling.

f)	Jet injectors

These are idea for people who need to take daily insulin shots. These use high pressure air to spray insulin in to the skin of the patient.

g)	Alcohol swabs

These are necessary to make the injection sites clean and sterilized. With these swabs, you don’t require to worry about contracting bacterial or viral infection.

h)	Glucose tablets

These are helpful for people who experience low blood sugar levels. With these tablets, you can ensure immediate, accurate and safe increase in glucose levels.

i)	Erection vacuum therapy

It is a safe and effective way to avoid importance as a result of diabetes.

j)	Injection supply start-up kit

These kits are available with free syringes and vial adapters you require to maintain healthy glucose and sugar levels in your body.

With the rising expenses of health care, increasing number of patients are resorting to home medical supplies and equipments to lead a comfortable life at home, instead of footing huge bills of the nursing homes. In addition to the wheel chairs, today’s home medical supplies cover an entire range of sophisticated medical equipments like various types of Diabetic Supply Programs, Medical Alarms, Blood Pressure Monitors, Oxygen Concentrators, Spirometers, Pulse Oximeters or autoclaves.

Now, buying medical equipments from the online stores has its definite advantages. You get a cheaper deal and moreover you can make the deal right from the comfort of your own home without taking the trouble to visit the local market.

Despite the conveniences, the online medical supplies stores are not above controversy; FDA has made a list of around 50 companies that have been reported to indulge in illegal practices with regard to the medical supplies. Now FDA is collaborating with the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) to stop illegal dealings in the online medical supplies.
In addition to the initiatives of the FDA, there are few things you can do to become a wise customer of online medical supplies.

While buying any medial product, make sure that the equipment meets the medical standards stipulated by FDA. How do you do that? Simply read the labels. If the text in the label is written in other language than English, or measurements are given in metric units that clearly means that the product is intended for sale outside the USA. So it is clear that product does not meet U.S. standards and there are chances of product’s being of inferior quality.

An authentic online store will definitely provide contact details including e-mail ID, address and phone number of USA. Before making any commitment, make query, whether the product has the FDA’s approval for sale in the United States. If the seller is genuine, he will surely make reply.

Do not get lured by the tall claims of cure-all effects of any medical product; remember this old adage that empty vessel sounds much. So take this little trouble of asking your health care professional to inform about this product and seek his advice before the final purchase.

Also go through the FDA’s Buying Online Homepage at http://www.fda.gov/oc/buyonline/ It will give you lot of helpful information about do’s and don’ts of buying medical products from the online medical supplies companies.

Last of all, don’t provide personal financial information such as credit card numbers unless you are sure the site will protect your privacy. The website address of a secure online store should read Https:// (Hypertext Transfer Protocol over Secure Socket Layer, or HTTP over SSL). This is a web protocol that ensures that the information are encrypted.
